British mature woman posting odds and sods as I obsess about Catherine Tate and David Tennant...
and a few other things on the BBC.
I'll also Brit pick if you want me to. :)
mirthfulwoman replied to your post “petervincent replied to your post “A tiny rant….” “don’t reference…”
Because it’s you saying that, it makes me wonder what Empty Child/Doctor Dances would have been like with Donna, with either 9 or 10. Hmm…
Ah, well if I can prompt interesting questions like this, then I am very chuffed.
Personally, I think the whole dynamic would have been very different, now that you mention it. And I would have been interested to see if Jack would have flirted with Donna in the same way, or if she would have reacted to the children in a completely different way. Considering how RTD liked to write Donna during series 4, she would probably have been sobbing about their plight somewhere along the line.
Hmm. You’ve really got me thinking about this now. *shoves plot bunnies away* Fascinating. Thank you for that. :)
"don’t reference WWII because none of us were alive for that" lolwut
Exactly! It does rather make you wonder if they hated their history lessons or something.
And I dunno about you, but having been told not to reference WWII, all I can think of is WWII. Typical really! ;)
I am one of your readers and I am 38 years old. Also 2 of my favourite AU fics in another fandom are set in the 1940’s and earlier. I doubt that I am an anomaly.
Hello lakesidecabin! Thank you for answering this, being a reader, and proof that tumblr users are not all below the age of 28 or wary of reading an earlier time period. *hugs u*
It really helps to know that you are out there. And I seriously doubt that you are an anomaly too. :)
Your poor muse! The desire to write without having any inspiration is really depressing. *hugs*
Oooh, asking for prompts is a really good idea. That tends to help enormously; especially if you only start off with ficlets or drabbles.
Good luck, love!
Oh god, that means I must stop reading fic next year if I’m not in the main demographic anymore… *eyeroll*
Oh no! And can I interest you in a pension plan….? lol
Funnily enough it doesn’t imply you can’t be writing fanfiction beyond the age of 28, merely reading it. Weird that. Unless I can lure you further into this writing fanfiction game. *looks at you hopefully*
Don’t stop writing!! 😨😨. Also, by that logic, writing ‘big’ words in kids books is a no-no. Plus most devices have built in dictionaries now, if they don’t know the words they can just click the word for the definition.
Apparently tumblr really didn’t want me to reply to this - I’ve had to be extremely sneaky in order to get this far, would you believe. Anyway, thank you for the encouragement! *hugs*
True about ‘big’ words in children’s books, because something like Harry Potter is quite a challenge, and I had to endlessly define words when I used to volunteer to listen to young readers in the local school. And Apple devices in particular [other brands are available, please note. *makes sure nobody legal is eyeing me*] are excellent at defining words you highlight; or even good old Google should you be too lazy to look for your dictionary in book form.
